이 작품은 수도권 안 밖을 흐르는 여러 하천과 강의 모습을 7개의 모니터에서 동시다발적으로 선보인다. 도

시 지상 위의 그 어디에서나 그 지역 의 가장 아래에 위치한 시점을 차지하는 강물을 따라 이동하면서 바라

보게 되는 마천루, 다리, 지하철, 도로 등의 도시 건축들, 지나치는 사람들과 동물들, 사이사이에 자리잡은

식물들과 여러 가지 인간의 활동들이 만들어내는 풍경을 기록하고 거기서 나오는 소음, 리듬, 메아리 등등을

녹음해 재구성한 수집물이다. 이렇게 수집된 작업을 통해 우리는 끊임없이 재개발되는 거대한 도시를 이루

는 건축물들과 그 속에 파고드는 물길을 따라가면서 최첨단과 고대, 통제와 무질서, 인간과 자연 사이의 관

계를 재확인하고, 그 속의 삶이 만들어내는 복잡한 감정들과 멜랑콜리 그리고 발전의 미학에 대해 생각해본

다.

This multi-channel audiovisual installation follows the rivers and streams that flow in and out of

the metropolitan area of Seoul. The concrete cladded rivers, surrounded by high risers, overcast

with multiple lane highways and metro bridges, lead us through a quintessentially human

landscape. In making Stream Line we have documented these landscapes in two separate ways.

Visually we have followed the water, filming the concrete structures the uphold this vast system.

The audio recordings focus on the sounds produced along the rivers: the rhythms, echoes and

noises of flowing water, animals, humans, traffic etc. In the final installation we mix these two

landscapes creating a new landscape that is simultaneously familiar and uncanny. Stream Line is

a homage to the melancholic beauty of landscapes that only humans can produce.
