Nyung-man KIM graduated from the Photography Department at Chung-Ang University and the
Graduate program of Journalism and Mass Communication. From 1978 to 2001, he worked as
photojournalist for the Dong-Allbo and was stationed in Panmunjom and the Blue House as a
correspondent reporter. Kim was the publisher of Photo Art Monthly from 2001 to 2015 and
was an adjunct professor at Sangmyung University's Department of Photo Imaging from 2001 to
2004.
He has published 12 photography books, including My Hometown, Humorous Landscapes,
Panmunjom, Gwangju That Day, Memories of the Era, and People Who Became Presidents, and
has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
He received the Seoul Culture Award in 2003, the Foreign Artist Award at the 21st Higashikawa
International Photography Festival in Japan in 2005, and the DongGang Photo Award in 2022.
For the past 50 years, Kim has consistently expressed his unique perspective of humanism and
journalism through his coverage of the lives of ordinary people and historical events.
