방병상은 경일대학교 사진영상학과와 홍익대 산업미술대학원을 졸업했다. 현재는 경기도 파주에서 거주하며 작업하고 있다.
변화하는 도시와 이에 적응하며 살아가는 사람들의 움직임을 사진을 통해 분석해 왔던 그는 2000년 '젊은 사진가상'에 이어
2003년 '다음작가상'을 수상하면서 신인 작가로 주목받기 시작했다.
군사지역이 대부분인 파주의 풍경 속에서 사람과 사물이 도시화로 인해 어떻게 심리적으로 관계해 혼재돼 표상되고 있는지를

시각적으로 풀어 보는 Military Spectator 연작과 <Looking at Sunny-side>, <In the Green Heaven>, <낯선 도시를 걷다>,
<Flowers>등이 대표작이다.
「Walking in a Strange Citya」, 「Looking at the Sunny-Side」, 「여행 모드」 등 개인전과, 「공감」, 「장 면 들 전」, 「서울발 사진통신」,
「서울 생활의 발견」, 「도시에 머문 시선」 등 단체전을 다수의 전시를 국내외에서 해오고 있다.

Byung-Sang BANG graduated from the Department of Photography and Video at Kyungil University and the
Graduate School of Industrial Arts at Hongik University. Currently, he resides and works in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
Through his photography, he analyzed the movements of people adapting to the changing city. He gained attention

as an up-and-coming artist when he won the "Young Photographer Award" in 2000 and the "Daum Artist Award" in
2003.
His representative works include the Military Spectator series, which visually explores how people and objects in the
landscape of mostly military zones in Paju are psychologically intertwined due to urbanization, as well as Looking

at Sunny-side, In the Green Heaven, Walking in a Strange City, and Flowers. He has held solo exhibitions including
Walking in a Strange City, Looking at the Sunny-Side, and Travel Mode. Also, he participated in group exhibitions
including Empathy, Scenes Exhibition, Seoul Photo Communication, Discovery of Seoul Life, and Gaze within the
City.
